Both are VERY loyal to the originals, but just add into them a modern feel and energy. They are both on the Subterranean Jungle release.

"California sun" is my favourite of their covers.
BTW- there was a review of Sylvain?s cd in latest CR. It?s a 2CD that contains his demos with the Criminals from ?78 (such great stuff, much better than the versions on his 1st solo) and "Society makes me sad", which isn?t that great.
But judging from the review I guess that the guy didn?t even bother to listen them.
Who's on the cover and is there a DVD attached? I think us here in USA get that mag after the next one has been sent out in UK/Europe.
It has a GNR- cover, and yes, there was a DVD attached.

Syl?s review is on p. 107, Ginger?s is on 106.
The topic says that it?s his "Solo portfolio", which it isn?t, really, just 1st demos and latest soloalbum. What connects them is that they were both released by Munster Records in Europe, from where Easy Action licensed them, I guess.
Although in the cover of that record it says that it?s an "Anthology"- well, not.
The "Society makes me sad/ Paper, pencil and glue"- album isn?t that good, but those demos with The Criminals- they rock. And so does Syl, even if the poor reviewer doesn?t get that.
Syl wasn?t Johnny, right, yet that doesn?t make him "the second best NY Dolls guitarist", only different than JT. They were different, and Syl was as important for Dolls as Johnny, even though Johnny became a bigger legend.
Syl's style was based more on replicating piano riffs on guitar, whereas Johnny's style was more derived from surf/classical Italian/Romany/Mexican guitar.

You mean, say, Let's Dance, Surfin' Bird, and Do Ya Wanna Dance?
I heard Jeff Hyman's cover of Louis Armstrong's What a Wonderful World, one time. I was surprised that someone who I consider to have paved the way for hiphop would even like that song enough to do a cover.
Who did play on that Spector "Ramones" album?
